History of iMig website

The iMig website was originally set up in 2000 by Dr. V. Courtney Broaddus, then President of iMig, with no funds but with a good deal of volunteer effort. In the following years, the website was ably cared for by Dr. Daniel Sterman and Dr. Paul Baas and used in large part to disseminate information about the iMig biannual meeting. Now, due to a generous anonymous donation to Dr. Hedy Kindler, the current President of iMig, the website can be supported to expand its reach and to update its mission. Dr. Broaddus has returned as editor, along with Dr. Dario Barbone as a most creative site manager. The website committee is listed below.

The goals of the website are still the same as originally described in 2000 below:

  • To communicate among a widely dispersed international membership of varied means and frequent inability to attend the international meeting.
  • To encourage researchers and clinicians to become more interested in the study and eventual successful prevention and treatment of a fatal, currently untreatable malignancy.
  • To provide a forum for sharing of information and reagents among researchers in the study of mesothelioma.
  • To provide unbiased and consistent information to patients with a rare disease, mesothelioma.
  • To provide a forum for reporting on advances in basic and clinical research and for encouraging donations and increased funding for research.

iMig Website Committee: Hedy Kindler, MD, Paul Baas, MD, Steven Mutsaers, PhD, Dean Fennell, MD, Marie-Claude Jaurand, PhD.
