First of all I want to give my compliment for this interesting site. I'm writing you from the Italy. My father was diagnosed with "localized malignant mesothelioma" in August 2011, he has subsequently a surgery operation in order to remove the mesothelioma mass (on the upper side of the lung) that has already affected the lung itself and part of the rib, both were removed. In October 2011, my father started chemioterapy with cisplatin and pemetrexed(alimta). Altough this kind of mesothelioma (the localized one) it's not so clear (few cases are reported in the literature) no doctor expected brain metastes, that appears in December 2011. The two metastases (2cm and 0,5cm)have been treated with Stereotactic Radiotherapy (Gamma knife) in order to stop their growth.Altough the Positron emission tomography (PET) shows no other "active cells" in the rest of the body, I would know if you have experiences in other therapy (or changing in chemioterapy ) to be more effective to avoid the growth of other metastes cells. And besides, how many cases have you heard of brain metastes due to localized mesothelioma? Which is the prognosis? Who is the specialist center in the US I can contact?
Thank you in advance.
